AndroGel is a type of testosterone treatment that comes in the form of a gel. It is prescribed to men experiencing low testosterone levels (male hypogonadism) or testosterone deficiency. As men age, a reduction in testosterone production is normal. AndroGel works by replacing the testosterone that is naturally produced by the body.
AndroGel 1% was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2000. AndroGel 1.62%, which contains half the volume of gel at the starting dose compared to AndroGel 1%, secured FDA approval in 2011.
This topical testosterone treatment is applied to clean, dry skin on the upper arms and shoulders, where it is absorbed. Side effects associated with AndroGel include:
Along with other types of low T treatments, AndroGel has been linked to an increased risk of stroke, heart attack or death. Studies have shown that men with heart problems were more likely to suffer a stroke, heart attack or death compared to healthy men who were not taking low T treatments such as AndroGel.

"I lost my wife to a heart attack caused by a dangerous drug. While nothing I do will ever bring her back, the Simmons firm helped ensure that other people won’t have to suffer the same loss as me. That product is no longer on the market and the company responsible for selling it to my wife paid a heavy financial price for hurting people like her."
"My mom had a catastrophic stroke as a result of taking a weight-loss product. The Simmons firm fought tirelessly to get her the best result possible. Thanks to them we can afford to get her the medical and therapeutic care she needs."
